ATESIB Film Festival is the only festival in Israel that celebrates the best of African cinema from across the continent and diaspora. Brought to you by the ATESIB NPO Established in 2018, the festival offers to its Israeli audience a high quality and wide-ranging film programme accompanied by a vibrant series of events including talks and discussions, lectures, outdoor events, and family activities.

The 4th annual ATESIB Film festival will take place October 11-13 2022 at the Inbal Multi Cultural Ethnic Center and Anis Auditorium, Tel-Aviv-Jaffa. 

VISION AND GOALS:

To be a bridge that connects the people of Israel to African culture. Through an annual film festival and local cultural events, we strive to expose the Israeli audience to films from Africa and the Diaspora.

To Establish an African Film Lab. The lab will provide a professional network to help training and promoting local African filmmakers to write and produce films.

This sort of project has the potential to reconnect the local filmmakers to the African cultural sphere and their own roots and to counteract the stigmas pertaining to this continent.

To drive social change using cinematic tools. We believe in the power of cinema to educate to understanding, tolerance, and social awareness. Cinema can disseminate knowledge, empower creators, and encourage creativity within Israeli culture contributing our diversity and resilience.

FESTIVAL MANAGEMENT TEAM: 

Efrat Yerday: hD candidate at Tel-Aviv University, Chairwoman of the Association of Ethiopian Jews, writer, and social activist.

Liel Maghen: Intercultural Facilitator, works on his thesis in the department of Cultural Studies at the Hebrew University focusing on ecological nativism, post colonialism and Indigeneity in the Middle East. A recent Graduate of the Van Leer Hub for Documentary Cinema.

Dr. Adane Zawdu: Cultural Sociologist, focuses on how categories of difference structure our social and political experience, with a particular interest in ethnic and racial categorization.
